What's funny?? Kmart Commercial

I realize I already have all my "what's funny" posts are done for the semester but I still had to post this one. I don't have to explain this one too much, the humor in this commercial is pretty straightforward. The obvious play on words here is "shipping your pants" which is repeated many times throughout the commercial. The clever use of words here reminds me a lot of the kinds of things we read all semester in Anguished English, except in this case it is done on purpose for the sake of humor. But enough with the analyzing, enjoy the commercial.

  1. THIS WAS SO GREAT. Thank you for sharing this. Kudos to Kmart for using humor to get our attention. I would happily ship my pants there.

  2. Thanks for posting this! I like how you related this to Anguished English, I wouldn't have thought of that. You make a good point, it is the same kind of humor in the sense that it's a play on words, but intentional.

  3. Micheal - This is hilarious!!! It surprised me how even the little boy chimed in, "I can't wait to ship my pants, Dad." Cognitive shift?! Then they bring in the older people, which is ironic and equally hilarious. This commercial is seriously so funny. Also what cracked me up is how the worker is hugging the family at the end. Good job, Kmart, for making us laugh. Thanks for posting!
